The Shared Snack Promise – Short Story Teaching Generosity

Smiley Fang Forest wasn’t scary at all—its tall trees curved like big smiles, and tiny flowers glowed along the paths. Haru the Hedgehog walked quietly under the leaves, shy but always ready to open up when friends needed comfort. Rafaela the Raccoon padded beside him, clever eyes spotting anything lost. Momo the Monkey swung from branches, full of playful tricks and ideas.

One morning, Momo discovered a hollow log filled with shiny forest berries.

“Look at this treasure!” he shouted. “I’m going to save them all for tonight and have the biggest snack ever!”

Haru shuffled his paws. “Didn’t we promise yesterday to share any big finds with everyone at the clearing?”

Momo hesitated. He remembered the promise… but the berries looked so good.

“I’ll… think about it,” he muttered, rolling the log toward his favorite tree.

Later, as the sun began to set, Haru and Rafaela reached the forest clearing. Some younger animals sat there with empty baskets.

“We couldn’t find any berries today,” a little mouse said sadly.

Rafaela glanced at the path of berry juice drops on the ground. “I think I know where the berries went,” she whispered.

They followed the trail and found Momo behind his tree, staring at the full log.

Haru took a deep breath. “Momo, we’re not here to scold you. But the little ones are hungry… and we all promised to share.”

Momo’s shoulders drooped. “I wanted it all to myself. But that doesn’t feel good now.” He pushed the log forward. “Let’s bring them to the clearing. All of them.”

At the circle, everyone shared the berries and laughed together. Momo’s heart felt lighter than his stomach.
