Chirpy Stories
The Glitter Bridge Welcome
This is a gentle short story about helping someone in need and noticing when someone feels unsure.
Glitter Cross Bridge sparkled in the sunlight. Tiny crystals were built into the walkway, so every step made a soft, shiny shimmer. Asher knelt near the edge, building a small game out of stones and sticks. “If you step here, the bridge lights up!” he said, turning simple ideas into fun inventions.
Hira sat nearby with her notebook, writing about brave heroes and magical bridges. Hannah listened to her friends, quietly noticing every little feeling in their voices. Grace watched the path, always aware when someone seemed left out.
As they played, Grace saw a new kid at the far end of the bridge. He clutched a box and looked unsure.
“He looks lost,” Grace whispered. “And nervous.”
Hannah nodded. “His shoulders are tight. I think he’s worried about crossing.”
Asher glanced at his half-finished game. “We were about to test this…”
Hira tapped her pencil softly. “Heroes in stories always help first. Games can wait.”
So they walked toward the new boy.
“Hi,” Hannah said gently. “I’m Hannah. Are you okay?”
“I’m Eli,” he replied. “This box has snacks for the park on the other side… but the bridge is so bright and busy. I’m scared I’ll drop everything.”
Grace smiled. “You don’t have to cross alone.”
Asher stepped forward. “I can build a ‘safe path’ with these stones. You just follow them.”
Hira added, “And I’ll walk beside you. That way, if you feel scared, you can tell me.”
Hannah took one side of the box. Grace took the other. Together with Eli, they crossed slowly along Asher’s stone path.
When they reached the other side, Eli’s eyes shone. “Thanks for helping me. I was really scared.”
“You’re with us now,” Hannah said. “That’s what friends do.”
