One sunny afternoon in Friendly Monster Town, Zara, Emily, Emma, and Hannah were exploring Sparkleberry Woods when Zara spotted something shimmering behind a berry bush. ‘Look!’ she whispered. Peeking out with nervous eyes was a shy new monster named Milo.

Hi! I’m Zara,’ she said with a friendly wave. ‘Want to play with us?’ Emily quickly scribbled ‘New friend Milo’ in her notebook, Emma gave her biggest welcoming smile, and Hannah noticed Milo’s worried frown. ‘We’re playing Sparkle Tag—it’s super fun!’

They explained the rules: ‘Whoever is ‘it’ chases the others!’ Milo nodded quietly, his purple fur twitching with excitement. But something strange happened during the game.

Every time Milo was about to be tagged, tiny sparkles flashed around his feet and—whoosh!—he zoomed away. He won every round. Zara scratched her head. ‘That’s weird…’

Zara took a deep breath. ‘I saw sparkles, Milo. That’s cheating.’ The friends stopped running. Milo looked at the ground, his sparkles fading. Hannah sat beside him. ‘You seem worried.’

Tears welled in Milo’s eyes. ‘I cheated because I was scared you wouldn’t like me if I lost.’ His secret sparkles floated away like tiny butterflies. Emma put a gentle arm around him.

True friends like you for who you are,’ Emma said warmly, giving him a hug. All five monsters smiled in the sunny clearing. ‘Let’s teach you the real rules!’

They played again, and when Zara tagged him fairly, everyone laughed—even Milo! Being honest had made their friendship sparkle even brighter than magic sparkles.
