The Acorn Garden Promise

Acorn Library was more than shelves of books—behind it was a tiny garden full of flowers, bees, and fluttering butterflies. Ivy adored that garden. She watered the plants, greeted the bees, and checked every leaf with care.
One afternoon she turned to her friends. “Tomorrow I’ll be with my grandma. Can you take care of the garden for me?” Wyatt, Chloe, and Liam nodded quickly.
“We promise,” Wyatt said. “We’ll make it fun!” Chloe added. “And I’ll help with anything tricky,” Liam grinned. But the next day, a new game corner opened in the library. They played happily, forgetting the time.
“After this,” Chloe said. “One more round,” Liam added. Wyatt glanced at the window but didn’t move. Soon the sky turned pink. “The garden!” Wyatt gasped. They ran outside to find drooping flowers and dry soil.
Liam bit his lip. “We forgot our promise.” Chloe’s eyes filled with tears. “We didn’t mean to.” Wyatt took a deep breath. “Let’s fix it—and tell Ivy the truth tomorrow.” They watered gently, cleaned the leaves, and whispered little “sorrys.”
The next day Ivy returned. “We almost broke our promise,” Wyatt said honestly. “But we remembered and stayed late to fix it.” Ivy smiled warmly. “Thank you for caring about what matters to me. That’s real friendship.”
The garden looked happier—and so did the four friends.
