The Waterfall Clue Trail
This is a short story about kindness to neighbors and how small actions can make a community feel warm and connected.
Dove Wing Waterfall sparkled like falling stars. Mist made tiny rainbows along the forest paths, and Carson wandered happily, knowing every twist and hidden corner.
One morning he spotted a lonely basket sitting on a rock.
Zara joined him with her calm, steady voice suggesting they check inside for clues. Asher and Mason arrived carrying building tools, excited at the idea of solving a mystery.
Inside the basket they found a scarf, a wooden spoon, and a smudged note. Mason thought the spoon looked like one from Maple Cabin, but Zara pointed out the scarf was too bright to belong there.
Carson studied the note and made out only one word: “stream.”
Zara suggested they follow the stream and ask around, certain a neighbor must be missing the items.
The four friends walked along the water showing the basket to everyone they met. One recognized the scarf, another noticed the spoon, and soon they reached a friendly old tortoise near the stream bend.
The tortoise gasped, explaining he brought the basket for a picnic but got distracted by the flowers and left it behind.
Carson returned it with a smile, and the tortoise thanked them warmly for caring enough to look.
