Skybridge Town was full of tall wooden walkways connecting one home to another like floating paths. Caleb hopped across the planks, thinking of clever ways to fix little problems. Hannah hummed a calming tune behind him, Kip the Kangaroo bounced along cracking jokes, and Yani the Yak followed with steady kindness.

Today was Home Responsibility Day, and everyone had a job: Caleb sorted laundry, Hannah swept, and Kip and Yani delivered baskets to neighbors.

But Caleb got distracted by Kip’s funny stories. He tossed clothes without checking anything. Shirts mixed with socks, clean with dirty, and Hannah’s favorite sweater vanished into the chaos.

When Hannah arrived to fold the laundry, she frowned. “Caleb… this isn’t sorted at all.” Caleb sighed. “I rushed. I didn’t want to say no to Kip’s jokes.” Kip blinked. “I didn’t mean to distract you!”

Yani spoke softly. “Being responsible means saying what you need—kindly.” Caleb nodded. He turned to Kip. “I love your jokes… but I needed time to finish my chore first.” Kip grinned. “You could’ve said so! Let’s fix it together.”

They worked as a team: Yani lifted heavy baskets, Kip added labels, Hannah folded neatly, and Caleb checked every pile with care.

So the laundry was restored, every piece back in place. Caleb felt proud—not just for finishing the job, but for speaking honestly with kindness.
